Bali Travel Diary- 2

Hey friends! I’m back with another weekly recap of my first solo trip to Bali. This week went a lot smoother and was way more chill than last. Let’s get started!

Monday 12/11

I started the week with a great breakfast in Uluwatu. It was my last day here, and I decided to get a delicious fruit bowl. I then walked to Padang Padang beach which was stunning! It had beautiful rocks and trails that I spent a couple of hours exploring on my own.

After my time in the sun, it was time to pack up and head to Seminyak. The drive was about an hour and a half and I stayed at My Capsule. It was a cute and social hostel where I spent the rest of my night, reading by the pool and working on some homework!

Tuesday 12/12

On Tuesday morning it was time to finally get some laundry done. I dropped off all of my clothes, which meant I got to explore in pajamas!

I started out by getting the burn on the back of my leg bandaged then went to a restaurant called Sea Circus. It was great food!

I then walked to the beach where I saw a religious ceremony and decided to watch for a while. After they finished, I walked about an hour down the beach to get to the main shore in Seminyak. Here, I laid by the ocean and got a pineapple juice.

I went back to the hostel after a couple of hours where I got dinner and played volleyball and games with the other travelers. I had to stay up late that night since I had a call for Praxis, so I needed to find something else to keep me occupied.

I decided to go back to Seminyak shore where I got ice cream, listened to live music, and watched beautiful fireworks. It was a great spontaneous time!

Wednesday 12/13

For breakfast on Wednesday, I went to a cute cafe and got a sandwich. It was so cozy so I decided to sit and read for several hours. Afterward, I went back to the beach where I spent several hours practicing yoga. I also met a really sweet girl who lives in Ubud and we talked for a long time.

Next, I went to meet up with Agnes and go shopping at Seminyak Village. I didn't purchase anything, but it was so fun!

I then remembered seeing soccer games at the beach during sunset, so I wanted to see if I could join one. I drove back to the beach and sure enough, there was a huge soccer game going on. The first game consisted of approximately 30 men, so I decided I was going to sit and watch instead.

That’s when I saw a couple of younger boys starting a new game and knew this was my chance. I rushed over to ask if I could play and to my surprise, several of them said, “No! Only men can play!”

I was pretty upset- until some of the young boys said that I could, and since it was their game, they got to make the decision!

I never play soccer so I wasn’t the best, but I still had an awesome time. It was beautiful to see the ocean and sunset while we played.

To end the night, I went back to the hostel where I ate dinner and played games with the other travelers!

10/10 day.

Thursday 12/14

I woke up in a rush on Thursday morning since I snoozed my alarm and forgot that I had a spa appointment! I also had to check out of the hostel, so I jumped out of bed, packed all of my things, checked out, and drove to the spa.

I was excited about my treatment since it was so cheap ($17 USD) but eventually found out why…

I got a full body scrub and a facial, which started out really relaxing. Until the facial began. I didn’t have high expectations to start, but was let down by my experience. All I remember is wanting it to be over as soon as possible. It was extremely aggressive and just the opposite of relaxing.

Nevertheless, I did enjoy the beginning. Now I learned my lesson about cheap massages!

Afterward, it was time to drive back to Canggu, where I started my trip. The drive was about 3o minutes and I checked into The Farm. I really love this hostel! It’s so clean, very social, has great food, and a pool! It’s also in an ideal location so I can walk to many places if I want.

I had a very chill night at the The Farm. I just ate some lunch, met lots of friends, and went to bed pretty early.

Friday 12/15

I had a more productive morning on Friday. I started my day with breakfast and called my family for a while. It was great to talk to them. I then got some homework done and chilled by the pool all day long.

I took a nap after the pool and then got dinner with my new friends, Magnus and Ben, at a local restaurant. We then played games all night at the hostel. It was super fun to play pool and cards with new people!

Saturday 12/16

Saturday was also very lowkey. I started the day with a smoothie bowl from my favorite location. It was so delicious. I then did some more schoolwork and hung out by the pool.

Afterward, I drove around the Canggu town with friends and went to some cool stores. We got dinner and went back to the hostel where we played games again all night.

I love meeting new people and becoming friends so quickly! It almost feels like a summer camp all the time!

Overall, this last week was very relaxing. I didn’t do as much exploring as I liked, but I still had so much fun meeting new people from all over the world! I am really looking forward to next week as I will head to Ubud.

Thank you for following along on my journey. I hope to see you back next week!
