Bali Travel Diary- 4
Hey everyone, welcome to week 4 of my travels! I celebrated Christmas and New Year’s this week, and spent lots of time relaxing! Let’s get into it.
Sunday 12/24
I started my Sunday morning with a drive to Canggu to switch hostels. I went with a girl I met in Ubud, Sky because we were checking into the same hostel. Sky and I got along so well and we continued to hang out for the rest of the week. Once we got to Canggu, she wanted to go shopping so we went to the mall for a couple hours in Seminyak.
Afterward, we didn’t want to spend money on food… so instead we bought the cheapest noodles we could find and ate them on the floor of the supermarket. It was a 10/10 meal. Then we went back to the hostel and relaxed before she took me to a local Warung. The food was delicious… and so inexpensive!
Monday 12/25
On Christmas Monday, I decided to take Sky to my favorite breakfast spot in Canggu, TMO. We ate breakfast and talked for hours before heading to the beach.
We spent the entire day on the beach, relaxing, swimming, sharing music, and drinking delicious coconuts. Then we got a fruit plate for lunch and stayed by the pool at the hostel.
For Christmas dinner Sky and I went back to the Warung and had a huge Indonesian feast. It was amazing. We finished the night with a Secret Santa at our hostel.
Although I wasn’t with my family for Christmas, I really enjoyed my day. I’m glad I found Sky and we could spend the holidays together. It made being away from home so much easier.
Tuesday 12/26
We had a chill day following Christmas. We just went back to the beach for the whole day, swam, and spent time in the sun.
The beach was so beautiful that we decided to shower and go back for sunset. Sky and I sat and talked, people watched, and listened to music while the sun was setting. For dinner we went back to Warung Sika… again (you’ll see a pattern for the next couple of days).
Wednesday 12/27
Unfortunately on Wednesday both Sky and I felt incredibly nauseous from heat exposure the previous day. So instead of forcing plans, we just got some breakfast and stayed inside with the air conditioner all day. We ate dinner at the hostel and had an early night in!
Thursday 12/28
Thankfully by Thursday, we were feeling better, so we hit the ground running with breakfast at TMO!
Then we went and visited the Tanah Lot temple with friends with some other friends. It was such a beautiful place. The temple was on the water and had breathtaking cliffs and shores.
Following the temple, we went back to the same beach for a couple of hours. Then, we got some noodles for lunch before heading back to the beach to watch the sunset!
We decided to switch it up and brought pizza to the beach for dinner. It was such a great day!
Friday 12/29
For some reason I woke up super early on Friday morning, so I spent several hours calling some friends from home and catching up since they were all awake.
Then I had a delicious breakfast at the hostel before Sky and I made our way to the beach… shocking, I know!
We spent most of the day at the beach before we went shopping at some super cool local markets. Then, we showered, at dinner at Warung Sika… again, and explored the town and other beach markets.
Saturday 12/30
On Saturday Sky’s friend, Roos, flew in from Amsterdam. It was great to meet her and spend time with new friends. We went to breakfast at TMO and then Sky and I showed her around Canggu all day.
We went to our favorite beach for the sunset again and I was really tired so I skipped dinner and went to bed early.
Sunday 12/31
Sunday was New Year’s Eve so we celebrated with a huge breakfast at a restaurant called Copenhagen. Then, Sky and I took Roos to the markets we found and we shopped around for a couple of hours.
Afterward, I spent some time doing my laundry and packing my bags since I was leaving the next day. Then there were lots of fun games going on around the pool so I stayed and played them with a bunch of friends.
For dinner, Sky, Roos, some other friends, and I went to an amazing Italian restaurant. We stayed there for several hours eating delicious food and chatting before going to the beach to watch the fireworks. It was such an amazing New Year’s Eve and I’m really glad I got to celebrate it with my friends!
I had a great time celebrating the holidays with my friends and I am so grateful that I was able to find great people that I loved being around. They were definitely holidays I will never forget!
