Bali Travel Diary- 6

I can’t believe the time has come for me to say this… but welcome to my 6th and final travel diary! This trip has gone by so fast. Here’s how I spent my final week in Indonesia!

Monday 1/8

I started my Monday morning with a rough surf session. We went to a new location and I struggled to get my bearings. Regardless, it was still so much fun!

Afterward, my friend and I went to a cool restaurant called Loka, where they have a gym and recovery area. We spent the afternoon switching between the ice bath and the sauna. It felt amazing on my sore muscles! I got some lunch at the hostel and worked on homework for the afternoon.

My friends then invited me for a sunset surf, which I couldn’t turn down because rain was forecasted for the next couple of days and I didn’t know if I would be able to go again!

On the way to the boats, I cut my toe on the scooter and had to wrap it really tight before getting in the water. Unfortunately, because of my toe, I wasn’t able to surf much. I only caught one wave. However, the sunset was so cool and I loved just sitting there in the water.

For dinner we all got pizza and of course, went back to the hostel to play some card games.

Tuesday 1/9

Tuesday was full of rain and thunderstorms. It started in the early morning and never stopped! The storms were so bad that the entire hostel lost all power around lunch and it apparently didn’t come on until the next day.

I decided that morning that I was going to leave Lombok because I didn’t want to spend my final days in the pouring rain, so I worked with the reception to take the ferry to Bali in the morning. Thankfully the receptionist was able to book a taxi for me before we lost power.

I spent my last day in Lombok sitting inside with everyone, playing games, and sharing stories. Although the amount of rain and lack of power was scary, I’m glad I was able to spend quality time with my friends before leaving!

Wednesday 1/10

I woke up early on Wednesday to start my travels back to Bali. I got picked up at 6:30 in the morning to drive to the ferry. I was worried that I wasn’t going to make it due to the rain (since it still hadn’t stopped), but thankfully by the time the ferry was ready to leave at 10 am, the weather had cleared.

The ferry was much slower than the fast-boat I took to Lombok so I had 6 hours to kill. Unfortunately, there was still no service or Wifi so I just slept and stared out the window.

Once I made it to Bali I drove a couple hours to Uluwatu and checked into my Airbnb. That night I had a causal dinner at Ulu Cliff House and watched the most amazing sunset.

Thursday 1/11

On Thursday I had a wonderful morning with breakfast at Nourish and explored a nearby beach. I took lots of cool photos, swam in the salty sea, and collected shells.

After swimming for some time, my friend and I walked back to our bags to find a monkey going through our things! It was a hilarious sight, but the monkey made a mess of everything.

After some time we got dinner and then explored a secret beach under the restaurant until it got dark. We swam, collected more shells, and took turns drawing in my notebook. It was such a blessing to spend a day so close to nature.

Friday 1/12

Friday was my last full day in Indonesia! I started with breakfast at my favorite restaurant, The Place With No Name. Then I went shopping around the cute town for several hours to find gifts for my friends and family.

Afterward, I went to Dreamland Beach and had my final dip in the ocean. The water was incredibly salty and the waves were huge! I then got lunch at the same restaurant before heading back to my Airbnb.

Then, at my Airbnb my friends and I got piercings! I’ve been wanting to get a third piercing on my ear lobe, and since it’s inexpensive to do so in Bali, I thought it was perfect to get on my last day! It hurt more than my first two since it was higher up and done manually, but I’m happy with it!

Next, we went back into town and did some more shopping before watching my final sunset at the Ulu Cliff. To finish the night we played a bunch of Uno and had a nicer dinner at Yuki.

Before bed, I spent time packing everything up as conveniently as possible. It was a great day to end the trip.

Saturday 1/13

Since I was leaving on Saturday, I wanted to make the most out of my morning. This meant waking up at 6:30 to take one final Yoga class. It was amazing and felt like a full-circle moment since that’s how I spent my first morning in Bali.

Next, I made my way back to The Place With No Name for my final meal. I devoured a fruit bowl and eggs benedict! Yum.

Then I packed up everything and checked out before heading to the beach to take in my last hour.

After dipping my toes in the water for the last time, I was on my way to the airport, ready to leave Indonesia.

Finally, after over 40 hours of travel, I made it back home. This trip was the experience of a lifetime and I am so grateful I was able to embark on this journey. Through the ups and downs, I learned about who I am as a person and saw the world with a new perspective.

If you have been following along this whole time, thank you. I sincerely appreciate your support. I hope to be back soon with many more travel diaries. I can’t wait to see where the world takes me!
